South Texas College is committed to providing a safe environment for victims/survivors of sexual misconduct and seeks to help you achieve your educational goals.

Sexual Misconduct encompasses a range of behavior including sexual harassment, sexual assault, nonconsensual sexual contact, non-consensual sexual intercourse, and/or sexual exploitation and any conduct of a sexual nature that is non-consensual or has the effect of threatening or intimidating the person against whom such conduct is directed. Sexual misconduct may be found in a single episode, as well as in persistent behavior.

Victims/Survivors of Sexual Misconduct may request a No Contact Directive from the Office of Student Conduct, The College may impose a No Contact Directive prohibiting contact with an individual or individuals upon a student. Violation of the order may result in suspension and/or expulsion from the South Texas College.

Administrative Student Conduct Hearings involving acts of sexual misconduct are conducted by a three member administrative panel drawn from the panel trained student conduct panelist. For sexual misconduct, discrimination and other complaints of a sensitive nature, the Office of Student Conduct reserves the right to place a privacy screen in the hearing room or allow the alleged victim/survivor to testify from another room via audio or audio/video technology.

The Office of Student Conduct defines retaliation, retaliatory discrimination or harassment as any intentional, adverse action taken by an alleged, responding individual, or allied third party against an alleged victims/survivor or any person supporting an alleged victims/survivor in an Administrative Student Conduct Hearing. These actions or expressly prohibited and consider a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and a violation of your rights.

Victims/Survivors of Sexual Misconduct should also be aware that past sexual history or sexual character of a party will not be admissible by the other party(s) in investigations or hearings unless such information is determined to be highly relevant.
